JAMMU: With a purpose to promote a drug free environment among youths and also prepare youths to join armed forces, Army organised Fitness Competition in Sonder of Dachhan in district Kishtwar.
“The event titled as the ‘Fitness Beast Competition‘ was conducted on the lines of cross fit training which tests the mental and physical endurance of the competitor, PRO Defence Udhampur said here today.
“The competition witnessed to large level participation from youths of Dachhan from all walks of society and age group.”
Army spokesperson said, “Cash prize was given away to first three in competition.”
“With first edition of fitness beast competition ever in Dachhan, youths were motivated to join Fit Indian Campaign. The village elders and locals were very happy to see the competition of its kind and thanked Army for engaging youths in constructive activities, he added.
“With its fitness competition, many youths were attracted towards this sports and stayed away from drugs and anti-national activities, he said.
Meanwhile to commemorate the upcoming Veterans Day on January 14, Army organised a Walkathon with the theme ‘Walk for Veterans’ at Kalal of Rajouri district and the event included a three kilometer walk, entertainment, sports activities and medical camp.
