As part of Jurassic World: Dominion’s marketing, the new interactive website features footage and photos of dinosaurs living around the world.

When it comes to big blockbuster movies, some can enhance audience viewing by harnessing the power of the internet to do much of the marketing for them. That can be said of Jurassic World: Dominion, which like The Batman earlier this year, has created an interactive website ahead of the movie’s arrival in cinemas on June 10th. Like John Hammond before them, Universal has spared no expense when it comes to the promotion of the culmination of the Jurassic World trilogy this summer, as their new website features videos and photos of escaped dinosaurs from all over the globe.

Jurassic World: Dominion sees the return of stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and B.D. Wong, along with the long-awaited arrival of Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum to bring their Jurassic Park experience into the sequel as the humans once again fight for survival against a host of prehistoric beasts that don’t play by the rules. The new movie will also feature Biosyn, the company who were initially rivals to InGen and, by way of Lewis Dodgson and Dennis Nedry, attempted to steal embryos from Jurassic Park to further their developments. With Campbell Scott also set to reprise his role as Dodgson, the now CEO of BioSys, it is clear that Dominion is about to fully close the circle on Jurassic Park’s original storyline.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Before the movie’s release, Universal launched the Dino Tracker site, an interactive webpage that allows users to check various places worldwide that have seen records of dinosaur sightings and interactions taking place. Via different forms of media, from CCTV footage to smartphone recordings and basic photographs, the site also includes data on the types of dinosaurs being spotted and which species are most likely to be seen.

Jurassic World: Dominion Key Locations and Plot Points Are Hidden in the Dino Tracker Site

While the interactive site is mainly a fun bit of promotion, it does offer up a few more pieces of information about the plot of the movie itself and how the world it is set in has changed since Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ended. The world globe pinpoints the location of BioSyn’s Headquarters and the Malta-based Dinosaur Black Market, which has been teased in the trailers. There is also plenty of footage of humans and dinosaurs interacting to be found on the site, and as it does not yet include any sighting of Velociraptors or the Tyrannosaurus Rex, it is likely that updates will be coming over the next few weeks.

As far as marketing goes, the site does a lot more to engage fans than a simple poster or recut trailer will do, and following the Riddler’s site set up for promotion of The Batman, which was even mentioned in the closing credits of the movie and will likely continue to see updates when The Batman 2 is on the horizon, it is a sign that Hollywood is finally trying new things to attempt to bring people back to cinemas than the tried and tested ways of the past. While this seems to be the end of the story for Jurassic World, it has already been suggested that this could just be the gateway to another story to come.
