Visakhapatnam: The Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri Dr Satish Reddy said that electrochemical energy is playing a vital role in the development of electric vehicles and hence in the development of the nation’s economy. He said that a lot of changes have taken place in the field of batteries during the last decade.
Addressing the gathering at the opening of the two-day national seminar on Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage (ECOS-2022) organized by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory here on Wednesday, Satish Reddy said that the seminar is the most appropriate initiative toward Niti Ayog’s recommendations of utilizing battery technologies in Defence as well as civil applications. He expressed happiness over the gathering of academicians, researchers, and industrial partners at one platform for nurturing knowledge over the development of advanced batteries.
NSTL is organizing a seminar to highlight the current and futuristic requirements for the design and development of various varieties of electrochemical energy storage and power sources to meet the present demand for eco-friendly energy sources.
Satish Reddy inaugurated the seminar in the presence of Dr. BhVS Narayana Murthy, Director General (Naval Systems and Materials) and Director General (Missiles and Strategic Systems), Dr. Y Sreenivas Rao, Outstanding Scientist, and Director NSTL, and Dr. A Srinivas Kumar, Outstanding Scientist and Convenor ECoS-2022.
NSTL Director Dr. Sreenivas Rao said that 200 delegates from industry partners, research institutions, and academia and officials from the Indian Navy are participating in the event organized over seven technical sessions with an exclusive session for the industries. In order to cater to both military and civilian applications, this national seminar is being organized for The DG(MSS) and DG(NS and M) Dr. Narayana Murthy said that the high energy batteries are playing a vital role in the development of missiles, torpedoes and autonomous underwater vehicles. Also, with the efficient use of these batteries, electric vehicles are becoming popular.
KSC Iyer, Director General Naval Armaments, Integrated Headquarters(Navy), New Delhi, Senior scientists PVS Ganesh Kumar, Dr. BVSS Krishna Kumar, Dr. Manu Korulla, R Srihari, Dr. Abraham Varughese, and other Scientists, besides officers and staff of NSTL participated.
