EnGenius Fit is the new range of EnGenius networking devices dedicated to the world of small businesses. Switches and access points that are simple to install, configure and manage, but also cheaper than the more expensive enterprise versions. The range includes desktop or rack-mount Layer2 + switches, also with Poe support, and a range of indoor and outdoor access points with support for Wi-Fi 6.

The new switches of the EnGenius Fit series

The EnGenius Fit range of switches consists of five models all with PoE (Power over Ethernet) support. The cheapest and most compact is the model from FitSwitch 8 PoEequipped with 8 GbE ports, to which are added two SFP connections for the uplink.

It is a model managed with a PoE budget of 55 Watts, designed to be installed on a desk. The higher models have 24 or 48 ports and are distinguished between PoE and Full PoE. The difference is the power they are able to handle, which in the Full PoE models is higher, with a maximum of 740 Watts in the 48-port model, FitSwitch 48 Full PoE.

EnGenius Fit access points

fitAP outdoorThree access points from the EnGenius Fit series, all with support for the Wi-Fi 6 standard. As for the devices to be installed inside buildings, we have Fit6 4×4 And Fit6 2×2. As the name suggests, the difference is to be found in the number of radios installed and, therefore, in the maximum speed that can be reached under ideal conditions. The 4×4 model can reach a maximum of 2,400 Mbps on the 5 Ghz band and 1,148 Mbps on the 2.4 Ghz band, which halve in the 2×2 model.

To ensure maximum performance, they are equipped with a 2.5 GbE port with PoE support, which reduces the number of cables required for installation since the Ethernet cable will be enough to transfer data and power, provided of course you have a PoE switch.

The outdoor model shares the characteristics of Fit6 2×2, and differs in protection from water and dust: the device is IP67 certified. In addition to this, it is equipped with a proprietary 48V PoE input, which allows you to reset and reboot at a maximum distance of 100 meters. An intelligent solution, given that these access points are often positioned in hard-to-reach places: being able to operate the “power” button remotely simplifies maintenance when the AP exhibits problems and is not reachable from its interface. A fact that is often solved with a simple manual reset, in fact.

FitXPress and FitController: remote access in complete safety

The new devices of the Fit range are installed very easily: just connect them to the network and to the electricity network and scan the QR Code on the back of the unit via the FitXpress app to insert them into your infrastructure and manage them from a convenient interface available for both desktop both for mobile, just as happens with the EnGenius Cloud range we talked about here.

The advantage is that the product can be installed by unskilled personnel, but then configured, managed and maintained by more experienced people who can control it remotely. An aspect that can make a difference in sectors such as hospitality, education, health, which often rely on MSP for the management of their infrastructure.

fitcontroller

FitController, on the other hand, it is dedicated to those with greater security needs. It is a security device to be installed in the local network that creates an encrypted and secure tunnel and therefore allows you to manage all the EnGenius network devices without going through the EnGenius cloud.
