While many MCU fans would be happy to see the same actors continue to make Marvel movies for an undetermined amount of time, there is obviously only so long an actor can continue in a role for various reasons. With Chris Hemsworth about to become the only actor to get a fourth solo movie, that leads to questions about just how much longer the actor can continue to bring Thor to life as part of the huge ensemble. While Hemsworth himself has said that he loves playing the character, Kevin Feige has now offered his take on what the future holds for the God of Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be the eighth movie to star Chris Hemsworth as the titular Norse god, having appeared in his solo movies and all of the Avengers films. This film picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, continuing Thor’s story as he attempts to find himself in the aftermath of so much death and destruction. However, it is not long before he is drawn back into battle, this time against Christian Bale’s fearsome villain Gorr the God Butcher.

In the new edition of Total Film, Kevin Feige weighed in on the potential return of Thor in more movies, and it seems like it is something that the Marvel boss would be happy to see and isn’t ruling out. He said:

“I know this: there are many, many other Thor stories in the comics that we talk about a lot, and as we watch Chris Hemsworth continue to grow and evolve as a major acting talent, I would be excited to see how he keeps evolving this complex character.”

Chris Hemsworth Has Questioned His Future As Thor

While there are plenty of fans who, like Feige, would watch Chris Hemsworth play Thor for another decade, the actor has previously spoken about his uncertainty of what the next step will be for Thor, and whether Love and Thunder could be his swansong. However, that doesn’t mean that he would not love to continue his journey as Thor somewhere down the line. He told Wired:

“Well the last [Marvel movie] I shot was ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ and it might be my last Marvel movie, I don’t know. It was a wild and fun and wacky experience, as all Taika Waititi movies are. Played that character for ten, eleven, years now, and each time it’s been new and exciting, and this was no exception to that. It felt very fresh and it felt like we were trying something we hadn’t tried before. I was, in Taika’s words, I think a wacky, wild, romantic comedy set in space… I love playing Thor – played it for many many years and would continue to do so if people wanted me to. The most challenging part of playing Thor is reinventing it each time and not having it be predictable for an audience and having it be something they’ve seen before… And that is a challenge but part of the fun.”

Thor: Love and Thunder hits cinemas on July 7.
