To promote technical education, the Ministry of Human Resource Development is giving a scholarship of Rs 12,500 every month to the students doing post graduation in this stream.

To get this scholarship, it is necessary for the students to qualify GATE or GPAT. GATE/GPAT qualified students who are going to pursue master’s degree in AICTE approved technical institution can apply online for this scholarship. Students taking admission in M. Tech, ME, M.Arch or M.Pharma can get this scholarship every month.

The government’s emphasis is on promoting higher studies in technical education. Every year students taking admission in the master’s degree of this stream get this scholarship. To get the scholarship, it is important to take care of some things. For this one can usually apply online till October.

Only such students get scholarship, who have taken admission with valid GATE/GPAT scores. Students who qualify GATE/GPAT cannot get scholarship after admission.

Students who get scholarship cannot take any other kind of financial assistance, any other kind of scholarship, any kind of salary or allowance during their studies.

Foreign students or those taking admission from management quota cannot get this scholarship.

Students who get the scholarship will have to do at least 8 to 10 hours of teaching-related work or research work in a week. This work will be given to them by their institute only.

12,500 scholarship will be available every month. But for that, the performance of the students during their studies in the institution will also be assessed. Scholarship will continue only for the students who perform satisfactorily.

The scholarship will be given for a maximum period of 24 months or till the end of the course duration.

There are rules for taking scholarship

-Scholarship may be canceled if complaints of indiscipline or misbehavior are found.

Students who get scholarship can take casual leave of 15 days in a year, medical leave of maximum 30 days and maternity leave as per government instructions.

Scholarships will be given as per the policy of AICTE. Information about any change in this regard will be given through the newspaper or portal.
