Now for the session 2019-20, three private engineering colleges had applied to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to close, four to merge with other colleges. These colleges have not applied for the new session affiliation, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Chhattisgarh and CSVTU. According to the information received, AICTE has issued Letter of Approval to the colleges accepting the application.

According to the information received from CSVTU, CIT operating in Raipur district, an engineering college of Rawatpura Government Group and Parthivi College of Engineering and Management operating in Durg district have applied for closure of Bachelor of Engineering course in the new session. Apart from this, Shankaracharya, a large engineering college group of the state, had applied for merging one of its engineering colleges into other colleges, another Santosh Rungta College group operated in Bhilai and two and Sanjay Rungta College group. Apart from this, CIMT, Bhilai has not applied for affiliation this time in the new session. AICTE has accepted the applications of these colleges. Its official list will also be released by CSVTU before May 15.

There were a total of 18 thousand 529 seats for Bachelor of Engineering course in the session 2018-19 in Chhattisgarh. This time the seats will be less due to the closure and merger of colleges. Apart from this, AICTE has reduced 30 percent seats this time in colleges, which had 50 percent seats vacant in the last three years, according to a formula. According to an estimate, this time about three thousand seats will be reduced. However, no official announcement has been made regarding this yet.

CSVTU Registrar DN Sirsant told News18 that two colleges have applied for closure and merger, there will be no admission in the session 2019-20, but there is nothing to worry about the students already studying. The colleges will continue to operate till the completion of their course. If such a situation arises that the colleges will be completely closed, then the students studying there will be shifted to other colleges. Sirsant said that the decision on the applications received from the colleges regarding affiliation would be taken by meeting of the Executive Council before May 15.
