Jaipur. In a case of data leak in Rajasthan, the state government has imposed a heavy fine of more than Rs 27 lakh on the telecom company Vodafone Idea Limited. In Rajasthan, the first action is being told to impose fine under the IT Act-2000. Along with this, it has been said that if the company does not provide the penalty amount to the victim within the stipulated time, then it will have to pay 10 percent interest per month. In this case, about Rs 68 lakh was withdrawn from the victim’s account.
According to the news published in Dainik Bhaskar, the Vodafone SIM of a person named Krishnalal Nain was damaged. On this, Nain had applied to the company for the second duplicate SIM. But later this SIM was issued to another person named Bhanupratap without any verification. Later Bhanupratap withdrew Rs 68 lakh from Nain’s account through this. When Nain came to know about this, he claimed compensation under the IT Act on the company.
Ordered to pay the amount to the aggrieved party within a month
Later, the matter was heard by Alok Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government and Adjudicating Officer of the Department of Information Technology and Communications. After the completion of the hearing, Gupta imposed a fine of Rs 27.23 lakh on Vodafone. Along with this, he ordered the company to give the amount to the aggrieved party within a month, otherwise he will have to pay 10 percent interest per annum. It is being told that under the IT Act, the first telecom company in Rajasthan has been fined.
