It’s been really busy at the Maruti Suzuki office with fresh and model update launches lined up and it’s only been three months into the year. The company is now preparing for a blockbuster April with the launch of two of its MPVs, the Ertiga facelift and XL6 facelift.
The facelift version of the Ertiga will not see a lot of difference in the design and styling front, except for little upgrades like fog lamp grille and black surrounds. It could get a fresh design for the alloys. Similar upgrades are expected on the XL6 facelift but it could sport the Baleno-like NexaWave grille. Some new colour options may be on the cards.
Both cars could get an upgrade for the touchscreen infotainment system. Maruti would likely update both cars with the SmartPlay Pro version that was first introduced on the 2022 Baleno. Besides this, expect new upholstery, the option of wireless charging, amongst other upgrades.
In terms of powertrain, the Ertiga facelift is expected to retain the 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that makes 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque and is paired with a five-speed manual as standard or an optional four-speed automatic.
The XL6 will be powered by the same engine and the transmission options could include a five-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter (which could be available with the Ertiga as well).
Both the Ertiga and XL6 face competition from the newly-launched Kia Carens, which gets more equipment and powerful engine options. Time will tell how Maruti retains its MPV customers. For now, we’re awaiting the launch of the two in April. Watch this space for more details.
