ONGOLE: Andhra Pradesh’s former chief minister and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that he was pained as Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not mention his name during the 20th annual day celebration of Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad despite knowing that the prestigious institution was a result of his relentless work.
He, however, said that he never worked to gain popularity or mileage as state’s development is only his agenda.
Addressing the party delegates at Mahanadu on Friday, Naidu recalled how his all-out efforts brought ISB to Hyderabad in the undivided AP. “PM addressed ISB 20th annual day celebrations. The PM did not mention my name. It doesn’t matter. I did that for my Telugu people and it gives me satisfaction,” remarked Naidu.
Naidu said that ISB think tank had said they were considering Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai to locate the institution when he wanted them to take Hyderabad into consideration. They told him that Hyderabad was not on their priority list but agreed to visit following his repeated requests.
“I requested them over the phone to come for breakfast. My ministers received them at the airport. I personally served them breakfast which impressed them to achieve a big project,” said Naidu.
He said that ISB became a jewel eventually. He said that the TDP brought hundreds of such jewels for the sake of Telugu people. He said that Genome Valley came to the rescue of the entire country at the height of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Naidu pointed out that the people of neighbouring state were reaping rich benefits out of the institutions and projects brought by the TDP regime.
A new direction was given to shift from physical labour to mind-based endeavours. This was why IT was developed in a big way. Now, the Telugu girls were going abroad and earning more than their male counterparts.
The TDP chief deplored that the people of residual Andhra Pradesh suffered greatly because of the bifurcation.
“The TDP rule came with a 2029 vision to develop AP on par with its sister state. As part of this vision, capital city Amaravati was visualised and was planned to be developed as a Rs 3 lakh crore asset. What crime had Amaravati committed that Jagan had destroyed the capital city?”
Naidu said Polavaram was a boon for farmers of the whole AP but it was also crushed in the name of reverse tenders. The TDP laid 20,000 kilometers of cement roads in villages in five years. The Jagan regime did not lay even 2km of roads till now.
