Microsoft announced the second generation of the Surface Laptop Go laptop which gives the change to the first model launched in 2020. Everything as planned, including the fact that it is a not so revolutionary update.

The product maintains the aesthetic lines of the predecessor substantially unchanged and the innovations are concentrated under the body. The new Surface Laptop Go is in fact based on the processor 11th Generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 which takes the place of the 10th generation Intel Core i5-1035G1. Also this time Microsoft provides a single configuration on the processor side, while the memory configurations provide 4 or 8GB of RAM, combined with 128 or 256GB SSDs.

The new processor should improve temperatures and power consumption. Side autonomy Microsoft, however, limits itself to declaring the data of the 13.5 hours, only half an hour more than the 13 hours of autonomy of the previous model. The starting price also changes, which is slightly higher: 679 euros against the 649 of the predecessor. However, it must be said that now also the base model is equipped with a 128GB SSD, the previous variant with 64GB eMMC memory disappears completely (and for 30 euros more it’s not bad that it’s gone).

Microsoft also says it has improved front cameraeven if the nominal data shown in the technical data sheet are comparable to those of the previous model (HD, 720p, f / 2.0), it is therefore likely that the improvements concern the image management software.

Another step forward, not visible either externally or through the technical data sheet, concerns the possibility of replace more components, including trackpad, keyboard, display and battery. However, these activities must be carried out at an authorized center, no do-it-yourself. Obvious novelty, although certainly not a scream, is the new Sage colorway (a green / gray), which joins the previous Ice Blue, Sandstone and Platinum.

For the rest, the distinctive features of a product that makes of the build quality one of its strengths. The top is made of aluminum and encloses the screen 12 “PixelSense (unchanged compared to the previous Surface Go), not even the keyboard without backlighting changes and the choice not to include the integration of the fingerprint sensor in the power key in the base model.
