At the beginning of the year Apple began to allow “reader” apps, essentially multimedia content apps, to direct users to the subscriptions outside the Apple Store.

Netflix has therefore begun a gradual release of this new feature, and there are several confirmations that on iOS the thing is now global, Also in Italy. In fact, a dedicated buttonwhich exploits the iOS API for reader appsto guide the user to the content provider’s site, to subscribe.

As you can see in the image above, the user is first notified of the fact that he is about to be directed outside the ecosystem of the Bitten Apple, and that therefore his data will be registered by a third party, and that the relative responsibility passes to these.
Netflix and the other providers that are implementing this choice obviously do so to avoid the 30% commissions required by Apple, and therefore maximize earnings. Users are warned that, obviously, by subscribing to the supplier, Apple’s subscription and refund request management features will not be available.
