Hisense recently presented the 2022 TV range, revealing a varied offer that substantially covers all technologies and ranges from very large cuts to other smaller ones. The most interesting products are those that are grouped into four types: OLED, Mini LED, ULED and QLED.
To better understand which are the most interesting aspects and which are the most significant changes compared to the previous generation, we consulted Francesco FasielloPM Audio / Video of Hisense Italia, asking him various questions about the announced products.
HDblog: Do OLED TVs use LG Display’s OLED.EX panels?

Hisense is always attentive to detail and product quality, to offer on the market models that are always at the forefront, respecting the latest innovations, and that satisfy the demands of consumers by offering them an adequate price. In this sense, OLED.EX panels represent the evolution of OLED evo panels and are the latest innovation presented at CES 2022 by the largest manufacturer of OLED panels, which we know is LG. Given the latter’s commitment to producing OLED.EX panels and the quality of these, Hisense has chosen to use OLED.EX panel technology on most of its OLED products. The new panels, in fact, guarantee a maximum luminance up to 30% higher than a conventional OLED panel, and high efficiency in the long term, all thanks to the improvements made both in terms of organic and electronic components.
HDblog: Which SoC is used on the new Smart TVs?

In Italy we are present with 3 SoCs:
- Novatek 72671D
- MediaTek 9900
- MediaTek 9602
The development of a new SoC is already planned for next year which should be the MediaTek 9618, barring changes. Although present with different SoCs on the market, the main differences concern the manufacturer and support for hardware functions. In general, all SoCs are optimized and used to ensure optimal performance of each TV’s operating system. The end user, therefore, will not see any difference regarding the performance of their device regardless of the chip installed in it.
The VIDAA operating system allows all our televisions to be among the fastest and most responsive on the market, offering a very intuitive operating system and providing advanced options to access hundreds of thousands of free movies, programs and channels, also thanks to the new remote controls with 9 or 12 keys dedicated to direct access to the apps. Hisense is also careful to provide the support and updates needed to ensure that the TV remains in top condition throughout its life cycle.
HDblog: How many Mini LEDs are used on the U8HQ series and how many control zones for local dimming?

Hisense will continue to be on the market this year with Mini LED technology as well. Like last year, we chose to have a dedicated line, namely the U8HQ, but the novelty is represented by a wider choice of polliciaggio which, in addition to the 75 “, sees the 55” and 65 “included in the range, thus to give a greater choice to the end user. Below are the LEDs used for each single area; the number of control areas and finally the total number of LEDs used for each screen:
- 55U8HQ (55 “): 1,792 Mini LEDs, 112 control zones for local dimming, 16 LEDs for each area
- 65U8HQ (65 “): 2,560 Mini LEDs, 160 control zones for local dimming, 16 LEDs for each area
- 75U8HQ (75 “): 3.168 Mini LEDs, 528 control zones for local dimming, 6 LEDs for each area
As the brochure shows, our Mini LED series offers very accurate coverage for each screen and this to ensure unprecedented product quality.
HDblog: How many U7HQ control zones are there?

The ULED U7HQ series will be on the market in two sizes: the 55 “and the 65”. In both formats, the areas are 32 and allow you to have a good control of the screen, improving its performance.
HDblog: What is the type of LCD panels for Mini LEDs, ULEDs and QLEDs?
Francis Phases:
Within its range, Hisense has decided to adopt both ADS and VA panel types. This choice is mainly dictated by the fact that there is no better technology than the other, but only the one that can best satisfy the needs of consumers. In fact, the two technologies are very similar, but offer advantages and disadvantages in the following evaluation criteria: viewing angle and contrast. In general, ADS panels have a wide viewing angle suitable for use in a bright living room, for sports or television programs. VA TVs, on the other hand, have a much better contrast, more suitable for watching movies and TV series, especially in a dark environment, always considering having the ability to remain very central in front of the panel.
Given Hisense’s strong interest in satisfying its customers, it was decided to adopt both types and also apply them on the same series but on different polliciaggi.
The ULED series which has 2 sizes, 55 “and 65”, although belonging to the same U7HQ series, mounts an ADS panel for the 55 “and a VA panel for the 65”. This is done to allow those wishing to purchase this product not to be forced to a type of panel but to choose the one they prefer.
The QLED E7HQ series features a VA panel for 43 “, 50” and 55 “displays, while an ADS panel for 65”.
The Mini LED series, on the other hand, thanks to the possibility given by technology, manages to have a higher brightness and therefore a high contrast, almost covering some characteristics of the VA panel. For these reasons it has been equipped with ADS panels so as to also gain in viewing angle.
HDblog: Will 42 “and / or 48” OLEDs also arrive?
Francis Phases:
Already from the beginning of this year we had begun to discuss with our headquarters about the inclusion in the range of a 48-inch OLED. This stemmed from the desire to be able to further expand our range of OLEDs and to be able to compete with the main players even on the 48 “screen, thus moving from 55” as the first cut. As of today we can say that by the end of next quarter we could also present a 48 ”OLED product. In preview I can confirm that it will be the new A85H series, thus joining the 55 “and 65” products of the same series. Different speech, however, concerns the 42 ”cut where for now we have no plans to launch a new product.
HDblog: We conclude with a question that some readers have asked us, namely whether there is the possibility of bringing the Apple TV + application on older products.
Francis Phases:
The Apple TV + application is already available on most VIDAA operating systems for the Italian market and there are continuous studies and developments on this issue. On the latest line-ups the application is present, but having recently been inserted on our operating system it must be said that some older hardware does not support the newer technologies necessary to support the most modern apps, which is why we could not implement the ‘app.
