Presented last spring, the BYD Seal it was designed to compete directly in China with the Tesla Model 3. It is a model that has already obtained over 60 thousand pre-orders since it was presented. Now, the BYD Seal is about to arrive in the hands of the first Chinese owners.

The interesting thing is that this car will soon it will also arrive in Europe, at least in the markets of the Old Continent where the Chinese brand has decided to enter. The automaker has confirmed that this model will be on sale in Germany and Sweden in the fourth quarter of 2022 thanks to agreements with the Hedin Mobility Group which will be responsible for marketing and offering assistance to BYD cars. In the other European markets where BYD is present, the Seal will arrive at a later date.

For the moment we do not know in how many versions it will be marketed in Europe. In China, however, the BYD Seal is offered with three different powertrains. The car measures 4,800 mm long x 1,875 mm wide x 1,460 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. This car rests on the e-Platform 3.0 platform by BYD, specific for electric cars.

The login version has a single 150 kW electric motor with 310 Nm of torque and rear-wheel drive (0-100 km / h in 7.5 seconds). The battery has a capacity of 61.4 kWh and allows a distance of up to 550 km but according to the CLTC cycle. We then have a variant always with a single electric motor but with a power of 230 kW and 360 Nm of torque (0-100 km / h in 5.9 seconds). In this case, the accumulator has a capacity of 82.5 kWh. The autonomy, always according to the CLTC cycle, reaches up to 700 km. Finally, at the top of the range we have the BYD with double electric motor and four-wheel drive.


Overall, available there are 390 kW with 670 Nm of torque (0-100 km / h in 3.8 seconds). The battery is always 82.5 kWh for a distance of up to 650 km (CLTC). For this car, BYD uses its Blade batteries which are of the LFP type. Speaking of recharging, the 61.4 kWh accumulator can supply energy up to a maximum power of 110 kW, the one from 82.5 kWh up to 150 kW.

Obviously, the prices for the European market are not yet known. In China, BYD starts at 222,274 Yuan, equal to about 32,300 euros.
