As we wrote in the other news, Sigma recently unveiled two wide-angle wide-aperture lenses. If the 20 mm f / 1.4 is designed (also, but not only) for astrophotography, the model Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN Art it is instead designed to be more versatile thanks to a focal length that is slightly longer while still having a wide aperture.

According to the manufacturer, thanks to the technical structure there is excellent suppression of optical aberrations (such as sagittal flare) thus providing quality image. In particular, the focus was on the sharpness of the photographs that can be obtained even in difficult lighting conditions (thanks to the maximum aperture of f / 1.4). Sigma he also added that this model is meant for photographs ranging from street-photographyup to interior and architectural photos or even astrophotography.
The technical characteristics of the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN Art
The company wrote on the official website that the new model has an optical structure with several special lenses. In general there are 17 elements divided into 14 groups and includes two low dispersion FLD elements, one very low dispersion (SLD) element and four aspherical elements. Then there is no shortage of coatings Nano Porous Coating (NPC) e Super Multi-Layer Coating which allow to reduce the problems due to grease and water as well as aberrations.

L’Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN lens Art it then uses a stepping motor, as in the case of the 20 mm f / 1.4, so as to guarantee automatic focus (the minimum focusing distance is 25 cm). Advanced features found on Sony cameras such as Eye-AF and Face-AF are supported. There are both focus rings (clicked And declicked) and for the opening and there is a manual focus lock selector (MFL). The viewing angle is 84.1 °.

The diaphragm has a maximum aperture of f / 1.4 and a minimum of f / 16 with an 11-blade structure. At the front it is possible to use 72 mm diameter filters while there is also the possibility of using a rear filter holder (to have a combination of several filters at the same time). The dimensions for the L-mount version are equal to 75.7 x 95.5 mm while for Sony E it reaches 75.7 x 97.5 mm with a weight that is respectively 520 grams and 510 grams. The Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN Art will be available from the end of August 2022 at a price of 799 dollars (for the US market).
