The Wizard of Oz: announced a second remake

The deal, which was closed last week, comes as Barris’ first feature film, You People, for Netflix, is in post-production. The story, drawn from a screenplay that Barris wrote with Jonah Hill, centers on a couple dealing with cultural clashes, societal expectations and generational differences. The cast includes Hill, Eddie Murphy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Duchovny and Nia Long. The author’s career in Hollywood show business has recently taken a real surge: next month, Barris will launch Entergalatica televised event he co-created with Kid Cudi.

And that’s not all: the author is also writing a remake of the 1992 sports comedy Who does not jump white is with rapper Jack Harlow in the role of Woody Harrelson in the original film. Barris wrote the screenplay for The girls’ journey and the 2019 remake of Shaftalso for Warner Bros. He is also planning a feature film on the comic genius Richard Pryor who Barris is writing, directing and producing; an animated film inspired by Bob Marley’s songs and music; a musical feature film about Juneteenth that he produced with Pharrell Williams.
