If in our video review you will find all the details about this Redmagic 7S Pro in this textual review we will focus on the differences between this model and the previous one and on the conclusions. We therefore invite you to read the Redmagic 7 Pro review in full if you are interested in this model.
From an aesthetic point of view, the differences are practically non-existent: the two smartphones are in fact practically identical and the substantial differences are in fact under the hood. Although it may seem like a minimal difference, this Redmagic 7S Pro is equipped with a processor inside Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. That plus more than the previous model it makes “all the difference in the world”. As already extensively tested on other devices, this new Qualcomm processor guarantees better performance with lower consumption and less overheating. In a nutshell: it is better optimized.
The main feedback is in the performance, which is truly impressive. Redmagic 7S Pro manages to keep the power always above 80% of its capacity even beyond the half hour of prolonged use under the maximum effort. There are few devices capable of guaranteeing similar performance, without becoming incandescent. Obviously Redmagic 7S Pro heats up, but the Redmagic’s ICE 10.0 system manages to keep this heat at bay by dissipating it quickly and effectively. This is also possible thanks to its physical fan, which can rotate up to 20,000 RPM, and to its various layers of materials suitable for thermal dissipation.
In addition to the processor and the new cooling system, the only real other novelty of this smartphone is the possibility of buying it even in the absurd cut with 18 GB of LPDDR5 RAM (and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal memory). However, we tried the “basic” version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.
Let’s also do a quick review of the other main features of the smartphone:
- 5G / Wi-Fi 6E / Bluetooth connectivity 5.2
- USB-C video output
- 3.5mm audio jack
- RGB LED on the back
- 6.8 “FHD + AMOLED 120 Hz display
- Touch sampling record at 960 Hz
- Cameras: 64 megapixel / 8 megapixel wide angle / 2 megapixel macro
- Camera under the 16 megapixel display
- Stereo / DTS Ultra X audio
- 5,000 mAh battery
- Fast charging at 65W
Therefore, the distinctive features of the previous model do not change, such as fast charging (albeit not as fast as the Asian model), the large battery, the presence of audio jack and ultrasonic triggers on the back, configurable as desired within the games.
Although Redmagic is not famous for the number of updates, we were pleased to see that this smartphone with Android 12 received two updates during our test. At the moment the security patches are stopped in June 2022. There are no particular news in the software, which unfortunately keeps once again the bad translations in some menus.
Redmagic 7S Pro improves dramatically, despite the very few differences. However, the price is also growing and this is certainly not good for its palatability. They want us 779 € for the 12/256 version and a good 949 € for the 18/512 one. Considering that Redmagic has always been the most attractive brand for those looking for excellent value for money, these are decidedly high figures.
You find it also on Amazonbut at an even higher price.
