Metaverso, the new Meta accounts to access it

Thanks to the new ones account Half it will no longer be mandatory to have a Facebook account for access the metaverse through the Meta Quest 2 virtual reality viewer: with the debut of the new profiles, the process has begun that will culminate on January 1, 2023, when it will no longer be possible to log in via your Facebook, Instagram or Oculus accounts, but only with the direct login from Meta account. The introduction of the new accounts began gradually and is aimed at those interested in exploring the space in virtual reality without, however, feeling obliged to maintain or open a user on Meta’s social networks.

From today, therefore, a simple email address will suffice for open a Meta account, in a very similar way to subscribing to any other digital service: to complete the process you will have to wear the virtual reality viewer in order to obtain a code to be entered in the appropriate Oculus app. However, it will be possible to create a new account by connecting with your Facebook and Instagram credentials through the Account Center: by registering without the social user you will lose some features concerning live streaming, messaging and options to find friends, while all previous users will keep the purchases and downloads already made. A minimum age of 13 is required for registration.

After creating a Meta account it is necessary set up a Meta Horizon profile with a unique username, a name that can be viewed by other metaverse users and the ability to add a personal image as well. You can open the profile to everyone, to friends or keep it private (the default option for users aged 13 to 17), for greater control of friend requests and your account.
