There QD-OLED technology one of the most interesting for the next generations of televisions and already in its debut it showed great potential.
Samsungwhich at the moment the only manufacturer to market this type of panels, is already working on the next generations and is developing a new one stacked structure able to remove one of the glass substrates which are currently an integral part of QD-OLED panels.
The news confirms those reported in the past and comes fromInternational Meeting of Information Display (IMID 2022) in Busan, South Korea, the same meeting in which the CEO of Samsung Display had confirmed the construction of one new production line of OLED panels.

QD-OLED panels currently use two glass substrates: one for the TFT circuitry and the OLED emitter layer, the other on which the nanomaterials are deposited for color conversion. Samsung technicians are developing a production process in which the latter come printed directly with ink-jet technology on the emitter layer.
Removing the second glass layer would bring with it two advantages: the first would be a simplification of the production process, with a saving of materials and a lowering of costs, the second would be to make the flexible and rollable panelthus opening up new fields of use for QD-OLED screens
