Xeric Voyager Automatic, the Nasa watch dedicated to Voyager missions that withstands 100 atmospheres

The one collected on Kickstarter by theexclusive Xeric Voyager Automatic watch, dedicated to the historic missions of space probes currently farthest from Earth with the approval of NASA. Each unit of the lot is made with quality materials to ensure a completely out of the ordinary resistance up to 100 atmospheres – something literally spatial, which allows you to go down to depths of 1000 meters below sea level. Powered by the movement of the wrist, the Nasa Voyager Automatic watch mounts a case back reproduction of the cover of the iconic album contained on board the probes.

In 1977, NASA took advantage of an opportunity that only happens once every 176 years or when the outer planets of the Solar System are aligned almost perfectly to be observed with a single flyby and without tortuous paths and continuous relaunches between one and the other. And so the two probes Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 set sail for a journey that led them to visit distant worlds successfully managing to return photos and precious data still today.

And just as half a century approaches from that double mission, the campaign to create a collection of automatic watches dedicated to the company and with unusual characteristics debuted on Kickstarter. While in fact the normal watches for divers withstand 5 or 10 atmospheres, or 50 or 100 meters below sea level, Voyager Automatic goes up to 100 atmospheres, managing on paper to go up to 1000 meters downwards, also thanks to the use of a 4 mm thick sapphire crystal.

A helium escape valve integrated allows to manage the pressure difference due to the saturation of the great depths, while the 120 stop ring facilitates the monitoring of the dive time. On the back there is a replica, naturally golden, of the cover of the Golden Record gramophone record which was loaded aboard both Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 to carry images and sounds as far away from our planet as possible. There are no built-in batteries, but the power supply will be guaranteed by the system by Seiko which uses the movement of the wrist. Only 1977 numbered copies will be made, so it will become a collector’s item: it still is possible to finance production of Xeric Voyager Automatic and receive a watch next March for approx 390 euros.
