The brand new teaser trailer lasts around thirty seconds and sees Lee’s character, the famous physicist Dr. Ben Seong, travel to 1986 and find himself backstage at a concert in Los Angeles. Looking in the mirror, he realizes that he is in the body of a singer of a rock band, a few minutes before the performance. It is exactly the narrative incipit that accompanied the finale of each episode of the original seriesand then resume with the “development” in the next episode. Quantum Leap is set thirty years after the events of the original series, when Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) stepped into the accelerator and disappeared into the past for the first time. Now a new team has come together to solve the mystery behind those events. When Ben participates in an unauthorized activation of the machine, he goes back in time to the 1980s and, just like Beckett did, will have to find a way to return with the help of the hologram Addison (Caitlin Bassett), instead of the mythical and extravagant Al with the features of Dean Stockwell.
