The two initiatives translate into concrete actions the fight against climate change pursued by Fastweb since 2015 with the purchase of 100% electricity from renewable sources and the implementation of a series of initiatives aimed at reducing gas emissions. greenhouse effect.
Thanks to the zero CO2 emissions connections, all Fastweb customers will be able to contribute to protecting the environment. In addition to reducing its emissions and being powered 100% by energy from renewable sources, Fastweb has decided to engage in some compensation projects to immediately make a concrete and tangible contribution to the fight against climate change.
From 2021 Fastweb offsets all its residual direct emissions and indirect emissions related to the provision of services to customers (operations), with forestry projects capable of absorbing CO2 and with investment projects in renewable energy that avoid producing it. From today Fastweb takes a further step forward also offsetting the emissions generated by the use of services by customers, produced during the production, transport, use and disposal of its products.
For the protection of the planet Fastweb it will also donate one million euros. The first projects to receive the company’s support will be Mosaico Verde, – the forestation campaign promoted by AzzeroCO2 and Legambiente – to which Fastweb has joined since last year, and SEATY, the initiative for the protection of the seas created together with Worldrise Onlus. During the year, Fastweb will also support other initiatives in favor of the environment.
After planted 3,000 trees between Milan, Rome and Bari in 2021Fastweb will complete the planting of another 6,000 trees by next year and will extend its commitment to the creation of green areas also in Turin, Genoa, Pescara, Naples, Catania, Cagliari and other Italian cities.
Together with Worldrise, on the other hand, Fastweb promotes a culture in support of the biodiversity of the sea through the creation of local marine conservation areas on stretches of the coast of the Italian coast. Over 400 people including adults and children have already taken part in the awareness-raising activities carried out within the first marine conservation area of Golfo Aranci in Sardinia, participating in projects for coastal monitoring and marine conservation and in beach cleaning activities and backdrops. As part of SEATY, Fastweb and Worldrise will also create a second marine conservation area on the island of Salina.
