Volkswagen presented a detail on the occasion of the ID.Treffen in Ticino concept based on the ID.4 GTX electric SUV. Is called Volkswagen ID. Xtreme and shows the potential of the electric SUV in a more off-road-oriented guise. The concept was created by the Volkswagen development department. The German brand makes it known that the feedback it will receive from fans will be very important in deciding how to proceed with this project. Obviously, we should not expect the arrival of a series version but it is possible that some of the elements present on the concept can then be made available as accessories.
The German carmaker said that for the Volkswagen ID. Xtreme has put its hand to the powertrain with the aim of increasing its power. Thanks to some modifications to the engines and work on the management software, the car’s powertrain has reached the total power of 285 kW. This is 65 kW more than the ID.4 GTX. No news, however, for the battery pack that remains the same from 82 kWh (77 kWh usable). No performance information was provided. The ID.4 GTX accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. Given the increase in power, acceleration should improve significantly.
Peculiarity, for this concept, Volkswagen has developed a new “sound” that is diffused outside through the special speakers in the wheel arches. Speaking of the exterior, Volkswagen has made its SUV electric much more aggressive. We find a raised trim, 18-inch wheels with specific off-road tires and eye-catching bumper protectors. In addition, the car is equipped with oversized wheel arches which were made using a 3D printing process.
On the roof, however, we find a roof rack with integrated LED bar. Speaking of the interior, the German brand has not made any particular changes. Only new seats with orange details and a series of interior upholstery in Alcantara stand out.
A very interesting concept, therefore, with which Volkswagen also aims to demonstrate the potential and flexibility of use of electric powertrains.
