iOS 16 and watchOS 9 have been officially available in a stable version for a couple of days, after a Release Candidate and a long series of betas. The news from Apple for the benefit of the operating system for the iPhone are not few (you can find them here together with the compatible models), and it is interesting to understand the public satisfaction after a few hours of availability.

There is no doubt that in the long run the percentage of iPhones with the latest operating system will increase significantly, but the adoption rate in the early hours is a good indicator of the success achieved among the fan basethose users who are informed and who on average are able to “weigh” the differences between the old and the new and therefore how eager they are to switch from iOS 15 to iOS 16, in this case.

The point is that Apple does not disclose data or percentages, even less so close to the rollout. So you can only make an estimate, and one of the portals that succeed best with the means available is Mixpanel: the data on the operating system are obtained from the iOS version detected by the systems while browsing the web and from the apps, so the great influence of the statistical population is the reason why – you can see it both from the graph below and from the link in SOURCEthe percentages vary from day to day by a few percentage points.

6% IN ONE DAY, 10% IN TWO. IOS 14 FAR

Two days about since release, iOS 16 has a diffusion rate of around 10% against 75-80% of iOS 15, which has had a decline in the last few hours. By limiting the analysis – it must be summarized, we reiterate it – in the first 24 hours of availability, the data on iOS 16 is quite similar to that of the predecessor, identical considering the uncertainty inherent in the portal data (around 6.7-6.5%), while iOS 14 with its 9% remained unattainable.

iOS 16, beyond the data of the first hours, is called a do better than iOS 15 that hadn’t thrilled iPhone owners. In June, the penultimate Apple system was installed on about 85% of iPhone by, while the third to last in April 2021 had an adoption rate – again with the same source, Mixpanel – of more than 90%.
