NIO is investing heavily in his project expansion on the European market. The Chinese carmaker has already made its debut in Norway and is preparing to enter other markets of the Old Continent with the aim of carving out a space. The interesting thing is that NIO intends to introduce its own in Europe as well battery swap technology which has achieved so much success in China.

The first stations called Power Swap Stations have already been installed in Norway and others will be built in all the countries of the Old Continent where NIO intends to enter. To support this strategy, the Chinese manufacturer announced that it had opened its first factory in Europe. This production site is located in Hungary and is NIO’s first outside of China. The Chinese brand wasted no time and has already put its European factory into operation. In fact, it announced that the first Power Swap Station built in the Hungarian plant has come off the production lines.

The new European factory called NIO Power Europe Plant will therefore play a very important role in the manufacturer’s European expansion strategy. Inside there is also a research and development department. Lihong QINco-founder and president of NIO, commented:

The inclusive and positive environment for investment and cooperation in Hungary ensured the smooth running of our factory and the production of the exchange station. We will further increase our investments in Hungary and build an operations center to implement our strategies in European markets.


In the second half of this year, NIO’s energy-related services and vehicles will be available in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark.
