It seems that iOS 16 has significantly worsened the autonomy of the iPhones: it is a complaint that has historically been repeated more than once in conjunction with the launch of a new version of the Apple operating system, but this year the reports seem particularly numerous and insistent. And, above all, they are continuing for longer than the traditional “adjustment period”, generally lasting a couple of days, in which a decline in autonomy is predictable and physiological due to a series of resource optimization operations carried out in background (including indexing of files, videos and photos).

Discussions on the subject rage almost everywhere on the main social platforms, such as Twitter and Reddit; it seems that the phenomenon is particularly felt on older iPhones. At the moment Apple has not released official comments, but it is true that the official Twitter support account takes care to ask everyone if they have already made update to iOS 16.0.2. It is true that it is the latest version of the system available, but this insistent dwelling on it suggests some kind of correlation. It is true that in the release notes there is no mention of battery or autonomy.
