Letter to the editor: No more lying

OPINION:

Congress and members of the Biden-Harris administration, up to and including Biden and Harris themselves, regularly lie to the citizens of the United States. I do not exclude the GOP. For example, they tell us our southern border is “secure” when countless witnesses and hundreds of hours of videos clearly show otherwise. As is written in the Ninth Amendment, “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.” 
 
The Ninth Amendment has long been accepted as a reservoir of our unenumerated rights. I  believe we will discover a fundamental right of American citizens to have the employees — elected or appointed — of the federal government speak only the truth to us. Lying to the American people is anathema to our concepts of an informed citizenry, which is the foundation of our freedoms and individual liberty. 
 
When the employees of the federal government lie to us, they must be immediately terminated. The hearing should be expedited at no more than 90 days from the offense, and not be something that can take years and result in resignation or retirement. Liars must bear the shame of what they have done, not avoid it.
