OPINION:
Here in Florida, California Gov. Gavin Newsom is something of a joke. We all know he isn’t fit to carry compost for our own governor, Ron DeSantis, or for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, for that matter. As Newsom makes Californians miserable with edicts that increasingly oppress them, DeSantis is unleashing freedom.
During natural disasters, Newsom has shown himself to be impotent, whereas the DeSantis response to Hurricane Ian has been near perfect by any measure. From the point of view of a resident who has spent the past 46 years living in Florida, Ron DeSantis is the finest governor I’ve seen — and Gavin Newsom can only dream about being half as competent as DeSantis.
Newsom seems to believe that he has what it takes to be a good president, but he‘s perfectly wrong. He doesn’t even have what it takes to be a good man, let alone a good governor or president.
