However, this does not mean that it is too early to talk about Android 14. The new generation of the green robot will not be launched before mid next yearwhen Google will release the first beta.

In the last few hours they have leaked interesting details on what to expect from Android 14. Thanks to the well-known Mishaal Rahman we get to see two new ones requirements that will be required from smartphones with the update to Android 14.

The first of the two relates to support for ai video content. Support for the standard will in fact be made mandatory AV1 video. This is mentioned in theAndroid Compatibility Definition Document, which Google has been working on for some time. The need for AV1 support on all devices running Android 14 may require one higher bandwidth, especially on web applications that include video content. Hopefully the manufacturers and network providers they will be ready.

Another novelty should arrive on the front of app. According to what Rahman discovered inAndroid Compatibility Definition DocumentAndroid 14 could support 64-bit apps only. This would mean that the processors of these devices will have to be compatible with the architecture Armv9. In this sense, we know that processors such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Google’s Tensor already support this standard.

This makes us understand that Google is intent on move with decision on the matter of the abandonment of 32-bit apps. Also, we know by now the 99% of the apps on the Play Store are updated according to the 64-bit standard.

Of course it still is premature to take for granted all the things just leaked on the account of Android 14, simply because the timing may change and we may not see these news since the first beta or first stable of Android 14.
