YouTube may soon make the viewing of 4K content exclusively for Premium service subscribers. YouTube Premium is the subscription that makes available YouTube without ads, allowing users to download videos to watch offline and also play them in the background while using another app or when the screen is off. In addition, it allows you to access YouTube Music under the same conditions, i.e. without advertising and with the option of listening in the background and offline.
So if the test becomes a reality for everyone, non-Premium subscribers will be able to view the videos on YouTube only up to 1080p resolution: for higher resolutions – 4K and 8K – you will have to pay. However, it is not yet clear first of all if the real intention of Google is really this or if instead it is only a test, moreover it is not known whether any Premium access to 4K will be exclusive to the YouTube app on mobile or to the version web.
We recall on the sidelines that YouTube had been the subject of controversy in recent days for testing the increase in advertisements on the free version of the platform. Google replied that it was just an experiment, now concluded. Will it be the same for 4K videos?
