Our society is increasingly dependent on digital technologies, and thanks to the current delicate geopolitical situation European Council started moving for stem the phenomenon of cyber attacks and thus shield information and communication technology (ICT) supply chains from the threats they face.
Member States accepted the call for action to strengthen supply chain security, a first step to addressing the threats of unwanted strategic dependencies in ICT supply chains.
Our recent experience shows how quickly an external strategic dependency can turn into a very concrete vulnerability. For this reason we need to protect critical ICT supply chains, which are essential for the security of the EU’s digital infrastructure, the backbone of our modern societies and economy – said Ivan Bartoš, Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization and Minister of the Regional Development of the Czech Republic, current president of the EU.
