COD: Modern Warfare 2 is available from today on consoles and PC, what you need to know

From now Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 officially available for purchase on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Apparently, the installation disc contained in the physical versions of MW2 intended for home consoles contains just over 70MB of data. This a huge problem for all those users who cannot take advantage of a fast internet connection and who tend to purchase physical copies of a particular game to avoid tedious downloads. With this move Activision distances itself further from the retail market in favor of digital delivery. We recall, moreover, that the American publisher has encouraged the digital pre-orders of Modern Warfare 2 by offering theearly access to the campaign.

Speaking of consoles, the PlayStation versions of the new chapter of Call of Duty seem to offer an exclusive feature that can’t be found on Xbox and PC counterparts. Users PS4 And PS5 they can in fact choose whether to enable or disable cross-playa feature that allows players to meet users from other platforms in online multiplayer games.

As reported by VideoGameChronicle, unfortunately the same option does not appear in the game settings on Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One, nor in the PC (Windows) version. In any case, for the players Xbox there a more ‘artisanal’ solution which provides for the deactivation of online communications with users outside of Xbox Live. In this way it will be possible to avoid matchmaking with players connected from PC or PlayStation consoles.

At the moment, the title developed by Infinity Ward is distributed on PC via Valve’s marketplaces (Steam) and Activision Blizzard (Battle.net). For both stores the recommended price for the Standard Edition equivalent to 69.99 euroswhile the Vault Edition – which includes a pack of additional content that can be used in multiplayer modes – available at 99.99 euros.

The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 can rely on some exclusive features, such as support for the new RICOCHET anti-cheat system, native 4K resolution and support for ultrawide monitors. There is no lack of compatibility with the latest technologies from AMD and NVIDIAsuch as FideltyFX and DLSS and, for owners of GeForce cards, NVIDIA Reflex.
