According to the Change.org proposal, whose petition has reached approx 265,000 signaturesmaintaining daylight saving time would lead to save money one billion euros of energy costs, and would have positive effects on health.

Indeed, according to a report published in the journal Lancet Regional Health, the real advantages from the point of view of energy saving would be brought by summer time, rather than solar time: an extra hour of light in the afternoon would be fundamental for the Italian wallet. From 2004 to 2021, according to the Terna website, daylight saving time in Italy led to an overall saving of approximately 10.5 billion kWhequivalent to savings for citizens of over 1.8 billion euros.
