OPPO pad Air review

OPPO launches its first tablet in Italy. It’s called Pad Air and brings the ColorOS for Pad as a dowry. Let’s find out in our full review.

Packaging

The huge OPPO Pad Air packaging inside actually hides a fairly standard content. In fact, we have an 18W power supply and a USB-A / USB-C cable.

Construction and Ergonomics

OPPO Pad Air looks great, with a shell in metal for most of its surface and a plastic band with a very pleasant 3D texture, both to the eye and to the touch. The tablet is often alone 6.9mm. Its weight of 440 grams it is well balanced between the build quality and the convenience of a tablet to use every day and maybe take with you.

The hardware of this OPPO Pad Air it is average for products in this category (and therefore lower than phones in the same price range). We have the processor Snapdragon 680 2.4 Ghz octa core with Adreno 610 GPU and 6 nanometer manufacturing process. The RAM amounts to 4 GB and the internal memory is available in 64 and 128 GB sizes, with the possibility of expanding this memory using a microSD.

In fact, the extractable trolley allows you to insert an expandable memory, while instead there is no support for 4G / 5G networks (and therefore the slot for a SIM). Otherwise, connectivity is fairly standard: Wi-Fi B.C and Bluetooth 5.1. There is no NFC chip, GPS or an audio jack for headphones. It makes up for it with stereo sound with four good quality speakers. We have perhaps felt the lack of a fingerprint reader more. In everyday life, unlocking it every time with a code is not the best.

We have a main camera from 8 megapixel ƒ / 2.0 and a 5 megapixel ƒ / 2.0 front camera. Sufficient for the purpose for which they were designed, but nothing more.

Display

The display of this tablet is a large 10.36 “in technology IPS. The resolution is high, since we’re talking about 2K (1200 x 2000 pixels), although sadly these specs only tell part of the story.

In fact, the screen is not particularly bright and this not only prevents it from supporting HDR technology, but above all makes it less suitable for outdoor use. Better indoors where at maximum brightness you can use it without problems even in broad daylight. In the evening on the sofa, of course, you will not have any problems. The screen does not have an increased refresh rate and instead stops at 60 Hz.

Software

OPPO customized Android 12 present on this tablet with the ColorOS for Pad, an “enlarged” version of ColorOS for smartphones. There are no particular advanced features, but the work done on window management is very good. It is easy to juggle the ability to open apps side by side or one above the other, thanks also to the gestures and very clear multitasking. The side menu is also convenient to quickly start your favorite apps. You can then “replicate” the screen of your OPPO smartphone on the tablet or virtually expand the RAM thanks to the special function that “steals” part of the internal memory for this purpose.

Then there is the Widevine L1 for playback of streaming content in HD.

The fluidity is decent. Don’t expect a particularly snappy system, but we never ran into total system crashes, not even for a few moments.

Autonomy

The battery from ben 7,100 mAh guarantees about 3 days of average use, a little less if you use it all day as your only device. There recharge at 18W it can be considered fast, but given the generous capacity of the battery you cannot expect particularly short times.

Price

OPPO Pad Air arrives in Italy a € 299, which become € 349 for the variant with double the internal memory. In our opinion, these are high prices. We do not know if it was OPPO that made a too optimistic assessment of the value of the tablet or if it is a question of inflation and an unfavorable market. It is also available on Amazon. Final judgement

OPPO Pad Air

OPPO Pad Air is a nice tablet for home use. The hardware is sufficient for many purposes and the software performs well at handling windows on a screen of this size. However, the screen is not suitable for outdoor use and the introductory price is a bit high.
