PUNE: ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur recently organized Orientation Workshop of KVKs on “Chemical free natural farming in the present context: Challenges and opportunities,” at Deendayal Research Institute, Chitrakoot, Satna, Madhya Pradesh.
Governor of Gujrat, Acharya Devvrat, in his presidential address suggested making activities easy and accessible on the interest for farmers according to the crops being grown in their respective areas with natural farming through available materials.
Guest of honour, Dr V P Chahal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR said that natural farming is helpful in providing agricultural sustainability to farmers.
Director, ATARI, Zone IX, Jabalpur, Dr. S. R. K. Singh, said, “Natural farming is a system in which there will be an increased sustainability and there is a reduction in the cost of cultivation. Harmful effects of chemical farming on soil health and on our health are also minimised by adopting natural farming. In the coming time, higher number of farmers will be trained in natural farming.”
Natural Farming expert Hari Om, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Kurukeshtra, presented a study on the ompact and potential of natural farming based on farming trials. He showed that all the necessary nutrients are supplied to the plants when this system is adopted, and the number of micro-organisms present in the soil also increases.
