Huawei Pocket S was officially presented today in China: as announced in recent days, the folding smartphone can be considered as a more “economic” version of the P50 Pocket clamshell that we had the opportunity to try at the beginning of the year, since the only two differences between the two concern processor – here one Snapdragon 778G 4G to replace the Snapdragon 888 4G present on the original model – e external camerastwo on Pocket S against three on the P50 Pocket.
Pocket S is defined as the first folding smartphone to have received the Swiss SGS certification for the strength of the hinge, able to withstand 400,000 openings and closings according to tests. It is equipped with an internal main display 6.9-inch OLED with FHD + 2790×1188 resolution, refresh rate up to 120Hz and 300Hz touch sampling, the external screen is a small 1.04 inch OLED circular shape with 16.7 million colors, 340×340 resolution and up to 60Hz refresh rate.
Under the body, it was said, there is the Snapdragon 778G 4G, octa-core with 4 Cortex-A78 at 2.42GHz and 4 Cortex-A55 at 1.8GHz, the internal memory is instead available in 128, 256 and 512GB with the possibility of expanding it up to an additional 256GB via NM card. Connectivity side, the smartphone is compatible with 4G networks and supports Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C 2.0, WiFi 6 and NFC.
There are two external cameras, the main one from 40MP with computational optics XD Optics and the ultra wide angle from 13MPthe internal one is instead from 10.7MP. The battery is from 4,000mAh with charging speeds up to 40W and the operating system is HarmonyOS 3.0.
Huawei Pocket S is available in China at the following prices:
- 128GB: 5,988 yuan, approx 831 euros
- 256GB: 6,488 yuan, approx 901 euros
- 512GB: 7,488 yuan, approx 1,040 euros
