Who does not remember the 2013? At that time they were presented smarphone curved, with e-ink screen on the back and even integrated with a camera. But in those years Sony also proposed lenses, the iconic QX series, to be placed on the back of a phonewith the hope of attracting passionate disappointed by the photographic rendering of the cell phones of the time.
The experiment failed, also because i QX they weren’t actually targets, but they were equipped with a sensor (the concept was also of exceed the sensor dimensions at the time) that sent images to the phone via Wi-Fi, with lag and not-so-convincing shots. Now though Xiaomi, thanks to its Xiaomi 12S Ultra “1 inch” sensor, it took up the idea, creating a concept which allows you to change really i targets.

The phone, created in collaboration with Leica, it is in fact equipped with two 1 “sensors (probably Sony IMX989), with an attack M series which allows you to connect a lens module Leica compatible on the back.
The goal shown in presentation video (which you can see below) is a module ASPH Leica Summilux-M 35mm f / 1.4, coupled with software features such as 10-bit RAW shooting, histogram and more, but of course other M-series lenses can also be coupled.
“When will it be launched on the market?”, You ask. Unfortunately this Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept is and will remain a concept not intended for sale, but simply to show the company’s capabilities. The hope is that it can stimulate solutions commercial even if for the moment we have to be satisfied with the short video released by Xiaomi.
