We have a date, albeit a bit approximate, for the arrival of the TV series of The Last of Us: January 15, 2023. What was a single indiscretion in recent days has become official information, shared directly by the video game studio owner of the franchise, aka Naughty Dog. As for Sky, it has been confirmed that in Italy it will arrive on January 16, the day after the USAbut on Sky Atlantic: it will therefore be in the original language with subtitles.
The series is highly anticipated for a whole series of reasons: meanwhile, it is the adaptation of one of the most compelling and exciting stories to come out of the world of video games in the last period (and probably ever); then two extremely appreciated and charismatic protagonists were hired, that is Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Narcos, Game of Thrones) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones); the screenplay includes Neil Druckman, vice president of Naughty Dog, and Craig Mazin, creator of the Chernobyl miniseries also for HBO; finally, this is the debut of PlayStation Productions, a studio created specifically by Sony to take care of the film and television adaptations of its games more closely.

Given the huge success of the video game, the real question is: how is it possible that it took all this time for a cine / television adaptation? In reality Naughty Dog and Sony have been trying this since 2014, a few months after the release of the first chapter, but it has never been able to materialize. Initially it was thought of a film, but due to differences of opinion between Sony and Neil Druckman himself, the project has stalled. Coincidentally, the role of Ellie was supposed to be another actress from the world of Game of Thrones, namely Maisie “Arya Stark” Williams.
