It is practically official that Keanu Reeves will reprise two roles that made him famous, creating around him that aura of legend that made him universally appreciated as an actor. On the one hand that of John Wick, homonymous name of the protagonist character of the film franchise, on the other that of Constantine, and even in this case no further explanations should be needed.

Let’s start with the first project, which also appears to be the most advanced if we look at the development times. Keanu Reeves is currently in Prague for the start of filming and is about to reprise the role of John Wick in the spin-off film, Dancer, which will see the participation of actress Ana de Armas. The film will also see Ian McShane return to the franchise as Winston, the manager of The Continental Hotel. It is still unclear whether Reeves’ presence will be framed in a simple cameo or if he will have a more important role in the overall plot, but it is still good news.

Since the first film of John Wick arrived in theaters in 2014, the franchise directed by Chad Stahelski has grown exponentially, with three additional films, including the highly anticipated John Wick 4 which continues to delay its release in theaters. There are also two spin-off projects, one of which is Dancer which is currently underway with the first shoot in Prague, but on the horizon there is also the prequel series by John Wick, namely The Continentalwhich will focus on the hotel and Winston’s early life.

At the moment, it is not known whether the film Dancer it will be set before the events of John Wick or if it could be positioned closer to the fourth film in the franchise.

And we close with the second confirmationnamely the presence of Keanu Reeves in the future sequel to Constantine. In this case, the timing is much more nebulous and is based on a statement by the director. During a recent interview with Comic Book, Francis Lawrence made it clear that although Keanu Reeves is really tied to the character Constantine, a sequel to the 2005 film will be made but a script has yet to be written. Here are his words.

We don’t have a script, but Keanu, me and Akiva [Goldsman], who all worked together on the first episode, we’ve all tried over the years to start another one. It was difficult because of the DC / Vertigo world and who owns the character and who has control over the characters, trying to get the right people to move on. We have it now and now we need the story. We all would like to do it.

A confirmation therefore, which however makes it clear how the timing has expanded due to bureaucratic problems, rights and agreements, which have acted as a bottleneck inhibiting the start of production works. However, it appears that a square has been reached but we will know more in the coming months.
