We know that the next generation of the BMW X2 will be profoundly different from the current one. The spy photos had allowed us to observe the first important differences. Apparently, the future new X2 will also be offered in one 100% electric version which could be called BMW iX2. This very model was recently intercepted on the road intent on carrying out the classic development tests.
FIRST DETAILS
That it is an electric car can be understood from some important details. Although the car has a very extensive camouflage, you can see the classic stickers which identify the electric models being tested. Furthermore, the grille is closed due to the absence of the endothermic engine and the tailpipes are not visible.
As for the appearance of this model, there shouldn’t be any particular differences with the future endothermic version. The SUV should have slightly larger measures than those of the current generation. But the real novelty will be found behind with a roof line that descends more progressively towards the rear to give the car the shape of an SUV Coupé.
The interior is not seen but should be very similar to that of the new generation of the BMW X1. Therefore, we will find the BMW Curved Display that integrates the instrumentation and infotainment screens equipped with the iDrive 8 platform.
As for the powertrain, there is still no precise information. However, given that the new BMW X2 will be based on the same platform as the new BMW X1, it is possible that the powertrain of the BMW iX2 both the same as the BMW iX1. So let’s talk about a dual electric motor 230 kW / 313 HP powered by a 64.7 kWh battery. Since the debut is still missing some time, we are talking about the end of next year, surely there will be a way to find out more details on the development of this new model.
