The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the next-gen update finally has a release date

As promised by CD Project RED a few weeks ago, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will update to next-gen version within the end of the year. We finally have a release date for the ‘Free Next-gen Update’, which will allow current owners of the acclaimed action RPG to update the game for free a brand new edition which welcomes various innovations, on the technical front and beyond. Next week the Polish team will reveal all the details in a livestream.

The Witcher 3: Complete Edition from December 13 on consoles and PC

Circle the date on the calendar: from December 14, 2022The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available digitally at Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S And pc with the Complete Edition, which will include the coveted next-generation update. On the same date, the same update can be downloaded for free from all owners of the original game on consoles and PC.

“Enhanced with the power of next-gen consoles and modern PC hardware in mind, the next-gen version of CD Projekt’s award-winning RPG RED presenter dozens of visual, performance and technical improvements compared to the original”reads the press release issued by the Polish manufacturer. “Among these, the support for ray tracing, faster loading times on consoles and a series of mods integrated into the gaming experience”.

The Complete Edition designed for PC and for Sony and Microsoft flagships will integrate all free add-ons released to date for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Not only that, but the big expansions will also be present Hearts of Stone And Blood of Wine, which will significantly extend longevity with dozens of additional hours of gameplay. After the digital launch of the next-gen version it will be distributed also a physical edition of The Witcher 3 Complete Edition.

The update not only introduces important innovations on the technical front: there is also unpublished game content inspired by the acclaimed television series that Netflix has dedicated to this franchise. CD Projekt RED will reveal every detail on Twitchon the occasion of a REDstream event in which the developers will present the gameplay of the next-gen version.
