Since each gene is present in the human genome in duplicate, one inherited from the father and one inherited from the mother, about 15-25% of the general population has an ApoE-e4 allele in its genome, while the 2-3% of the population have both copies of the same allele. Therefore, having one or more copies of the ApoE-e4 gene increases the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease: 2 to 3 times for those with only one copy and 8 to 12 times for those with two, like Hemsworth.

To test or not to test?
