A few days ago the players of eFootball they accepted the Season 2 of the football simulator weblog Konami. The new season is subtitled ‘The Football Festival’ and contains various references to the World Cup inaugurated on November 20 in Qatar: among the introductions, 40 national teams available for a limited time and an unprecedented tournament (The International Cup Experience).
The Japanese developer has prepared another big news for eFootball fans. It’s called eFootball Italy Cup and a new eSport competition dedicated exclusively to fans of the Bel Paese: eFootball’s partner clubs are among the protagonists.
eFootball: all the details of the new Konami competition
The eFootball tournament will be based in Italy and will see the participation of seven football clubs and, more precisely, players from their youth teams, pro-players and fans. The associations involved are AC Milan, AC Monza, as Roma, Atalanta BC, FC Internazionale Milano, SS Lazio And SSC Naplesall partners of Konami for its sports video game.
“The eFootball Italia Cup represents a new export opportunity for Konami and for football simulation”reads the press release. “The tournament will see three different players join forces to form a team and represent each of the competing clubs. These will be: a player selected from the youth team of the club, a pro player who is currently part of the esports team of the club and a fan of the club selected from an online qualifying tournament”.
In summary, the teams that will participate in the eFootball Italia Cup will include both professional players – or ‘lite’, as Konami writes – and amateurs, which represents a decidedly original choice for the current landscape of football eSports.
Before starting the dances, the selections of the three representatives of each club will be held. Each association will then organize two internal tournamentsone among the youth players and one among the pro-players, while Konami will manage the organization of an online tournament (‘KONAMICI’) in which all fans will be able to participate. The event will last for two weeks.

“You don’t need to be an eFootball veteran to participate in the tournament, no previous experience is required. Any fan can register online and select the team they want to represent”, explains the producer of eFootball. Fans will play a minimum of 30 online matches against other players with the aim of earning points for the ranking online: The best representatives of each club will progress to a knockout stage. “The winner for each club will then complete the squad, together with the winner of the youth academy and the pro-player. Together they will represent their club in the ‘eFootball Italia Cup’“.
There is one more important detail to point out: the KONAMICI tournament will take place exclusively on Sony consoles (Playstation 4 And Playstation 5) and will be free to play.
Qualifications and selections for the representative teams of the seven clubs will take place in stages, between December 2022 and April 2023. KONAMICI’s qualification phase will start in February and end in March. According to Konami’s plans, the event of the Grand Final will take place live at Naples COMICON in the weekend from 28 April to 1 May 2023.

A fundamental question is still missing: what does it consist of? the ultimate prize? The winning club will win an eFootball gaming-multimedia centre, which will be implemented in the training complex of the youth sector of the respective association. For the duration of the eFootball Italia Cup, Konami will publish a series of episodes on the eFootball YouTube channelwith analyzes and highlights of the tournament matches.
