The future top of the OnePlus range will receive more updates than the current ones

An important aspect to take into consideration when buying one smartphones new is the one concerning the expected updates: now several manufacturers promise updates for a few years for their top of the range, and recently OnePlus wanted update its upgrade strategy for its top of the range.

On the occasion of an event held in London, the Chinese company shared the roadmap of the next projects in the pipeline: in particular, OnePlus shared details on device update timingon the OxygenOS 13.1which should arrive early next year, and on OxygenOS 14which is still in the early stages of development.

“OxygenOS is an integral part of OnePlus, co-created by our community members. As a user-oriented company, we do everything we can to improve the experience for our users. With more and more people using their smartphones for extended periods, we want to make sure we can offer this possibility to everyone. This new update policy will allow users to access the latest security and feature updates, necessary to guarantee the fast & smooth experience typical of OnePlus throughout the life of the phone”.

As for the updates, OnePlus has stated that for the company’s next top of the range, that is those presented starting from 2023predicts at least 4 major OxygenOS updates (this means that 4 different versions of Android will arrive) e 5 years of security patches.

There OxygenOS 13.1 will be an improvement of the current version 13 and will arrive in first half of 2023: This firmware release will offer improvements to the user experience and focus on security as it will bring an updated version of the feature to OnePlus smartphones Private Safeand on accessibility.

No information on the other hand OxygenOS 14: This build will definitely be based on Android 14, but at the moment we don’t know much about this version of the Android operating system. For this update, we will obviously have to wait at least for the end of next year.
