Apple has released a new update to iOS 16.1.2 which is nothing more than a small update that allows us to improve the safety but also of Optimize compatibility with wireless carriers. The update clearly only concerns iPhones and is also a minor but important update because it provides novelties in terms of optimizations and security.
iOS 16.1.2: here’s what’s new in the update
Here are the full release notes:
- Improved compatibility with wireless carriers
- Improved incident detection on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.

iOS and 16.1.2: how to update
In this case to update the iPhone as usual, as with all operating systems ofApples you will receive a notification directlyvia OTAon the smartphone. We recommend, if you have not done so, to make a complete backup of your data directlywith iTunesorwith iCloud. This will allow you to recover all your information and data in case of problems and therefore make it easier to restore in case something goes wrong.
To install the new iOS 16.1.2there will be two paths to take: via OTA or via iPhone or via iTunes by connecting the devices. In the first case, the simplest and most immediate one, just go to your iPhone to update:
Settings —> General —> Software Update
At this point the system will check if the update is available, which it clearly is, and the update can be activated by the user. Your smartphone will download the entire update and automatically restart your device by updating it to the latest version of iOS.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to update from iTunes, simply connect the iPhone via cable and once recognized, simply go to Summary and then to Check for Updates. At this point iTunes will ask if you want to update to iOS 16.1.2 and by giving consent it will be possible to update the devices that will restart once everything is finished.
