Tesla Seeds was revealed for the first time 5 years ago with the first specimens that should have gone into production in 2019. Tesla claims the Semi powered by four independent motors on the rear axles and can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) in 20 seconds. The battery life comes to 800 kilometers. As for the prices, it starts from 150 thousand dollarswhile Tesla has already received numerous orders from companies such as Walmart and FedEx.


Standing on a stage that housed four Tesla Semi trucks, Elon Musk referred to the need to reduce the carbon emissions caused by the transport of goods. The trucks were decorated with the logos of the companies that ordered the first models of Tesla, Pepsi and Frito Lay. Musk referred to Semi as the term “a beast” and said that “seems to come from the future”.




The truck will feature a new 1,000-volt power architecture, which will be adopted by other Tesla vehicles in the future, according to what Musk said again. Seeds also equipped with traction control to prevent jackknifing, of regenerative braking for increased battery efficiency and automatic clutch for the smoothest possible highway driving.


One of the first prototypes of Tesla Semi class 8 made a fully loaded 800-kilometer journey (about 37 tons) from the Tesla factory in Fremont, California to San Diego without having to load in Musk’s words. An important detail given the infrastructural limits to which electric transport is still subject.


When Semi was revealed it was a decidedly innovative project, but the delays it encountered allowed other houses to launch solutions with similar purposes before Tesla. Daimler, Volvo, Peterbilt and BYD have meanwhile been working on their own vehicles for long-haul transport and also Nikola Motors, which has faced fraud charges and executive turnover, delivered a hydrogen-powered truck ahead of Tesla. This is a sector which, however, has to face a series of problems, mainly linked to the insufficient recharging infrastructure, which obviously has to work on specifications and powers that are very different from those required by more traditional vehicles.


During the event, Musk also spoke of a new liquid-cooled charging connector capable of delivering 1 megawatt of direct currentwhich will also be used for the Cybertrucks. The latter is another of the heavily delayed Tesla vehicles, but which should go into production in the second half of 2023. During the event, the Tesla CEO also spoke about the project Robotaxi.
