The division of our executive, judicial and bicameral legislative bodies into separate parts is the underlying principle in our system of government. And it would exist except for one place where mischief has been allowed to take place: the Department of Justice, which falls under the executive branch and therefore has no division between political and organizational ideologies.

At DOJ, the dynamic of justice is adulterated by the existence of political ideology. In this system we find true justice impossible because of the political nature of the executive branch, which oversees the department. It’s a dilemma we do not seem able to overcome. We should think hard and long about this reality and take the necessary measures to circumscribe it where possible.
