Even if at the moment the rumors set its debut for the month of April 2023, the range of CPUs Sapphire Rapids destined to bring Intel back to the industry HEDT / workstations still arguing. Yup vociferous that Intel is preparing an offer based on it two series, Xeon WX-3000 and Xeon WX-2000and it is precisely the latter that is the unexpected novelty.

Compared to the rumors of this summer, which indicated only Xeon WX-3000 and W9, W7 and W5 solutions, the picture would be more complex, with a total of 16 models compared to the nine previously indicated. Those seven more SKUs would be nothing but the Xeon WX-2000, also composed of W3 series models. The table below summarizes the data so far:

Cores / Threads Basic clocks cache TDP
Xeon W9-3495X 56C/112T 1.9GHz 105MB 350W
Xeon W9-3475X 36C/72T 2.2GHz 82.5MB 300W

Xeon WX-3000 CPUs will offer 12 to 56 “Golden Cove” coresbringing to the professional world the same founding features of the fourth generation Xeons that will be introduced at the beginning of 2023: MCM (Multi-Chip-Module) project, up to 116 PCIe lanes (probably 5.0) and 8-channel DDR5 support.

WX-2000 Xeons will have 6 to 20 cores, along with probably 64 PCIe lanes and a quad-channel memory controller. X models should be the ones with unlocked overclocking. As for the platform, we know that CPUs will require a dedicated platform with W790 chipset and LGA 4677 socket.
