Twitter is preparing to introduce various innovations expressly desired by the new owners. After all, there has already been official talk of a Twitter 2.0 platform, intending to keep unchanged, yes, its mission as a free platform within the limits imposed by moderation, but also determined to change his approach to the experimentation that must be “open and transparent“, with greater user engagement.

In this context, Elon Musk’s intention to promptly inform the users themselves in the event that their tweets are banned, however remaining visible only to the author. This is the process known as shadow banningthrough which a post is made unreadable by other users while remaining perfectly visible to those who published it on the social network.

This phenomenon is more frequent than one might think, and can concern for example tweets with political content: the case emerged after a journalist – Bari Weiss – published screenshots of some internal Twitter documents in which it is proved that the moderators have “deleted” pro-conservative posts.

Well, Musk said the company will notify users if their tweets have been shadow-banned, allowing them to appeal.

Twitter is working on a software update that will display the true status of your account, so you’ll clearly know if you’ve been banned, why, and how to appeal.

The upcoming news also concern the paid premium service Twitter Blue: its (new) debut is late, we know it, and the reason is linked to the desire to find a solution for avoid paying 30% commissions on the Apple App Store. Well, it seems that squaring the circle has been found.

Twitter Blue will therefore have two different prices: 7 dollars – and no longer 8 as stated previously – for all users, except for those who subscribe via the App Store (therefore directly from the iOS app) since in this case the price will go up to 11 dollars. In fact, the extra 4 dollars will be used by Twitter to cover the 30% commission imposed by the Cupertino company.

For the moment, neither Twitter nor Apple have expressed themselves in this regard.
