EVGA extensionas announced over the summer, has abandoned the video card sector. Whether at the origin of this decision there were business differences with NVIDIA or other reasons it does not matter, the result is that the choice has completely interrupted the development work of the new FTW3, even if it was already well advanced.
We’ve seen a working prototype of the card, but today we’re back to talking about why one of those samples it was put on eBay by EVGA itself for charity. Rather than leave it in a closet, the company has decided to put it up for sale and donate the proceeds to St. Jude Children’s Hospital: unfortunately the auction only affects the United States, so if you thought about bidding, forget it.
While the GPU works, as this is a pre-production model and due to EVGA’s decision to exit the industry, the company will not offer any warranties and/or refunds in the event of any issues to the purchaser. At the moment the auction to grab the card has reached $13,200, with over 6 days left before closing.
At the moment the link to the eBay page is not reachable, but shortly before publication it was. The youtuber JayzTwoCents, one of the lucky ones to be able to get his hands on the EVGA prototype (and therefore with direct contacts in the company), assures however that the auction is completely legitimate. Probably the amount of traffic and the many bets are messing up the e-commerce controls leading to the removal and restoration of the page several times.
